Public Health Inspector

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the position of Public Health Inspector.

The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health) is currently seeking to employ a Public Health Inspector Level 1 for the Trelawny Health Department. Reporting to the Public Health Inspector 3.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Environmental Health or Diploma in Public Health Inspection or its equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Registration with the Council for Professionals Allied to Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Visiting and inspecting residential, commercial and institutional premises within the assigned Sanitary District, assessing environmental sanitation and making the relevant environmental health interventions in accordance with the programme’s goal and objectives.
• Implementing the Public Health Act & Regulations, serving notices & instituting prosecution to enforce the Law as required.
• Investigating complaints and making the relevant intervention.
• Maintaining appropriate records.
• Preparing and submitting monthly and special reports as required.

Specific knowledge

• Excellent time management & report writing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Excellent knowledge of the Public Health Act & Regulations and other governing Legislation, Policies & Protocols.
